Volunteers are assigned to a nursing home near their home location to act as advocates for the residents of that facility. They are asked to visit the facility weekly to see the residents, investigate and mediate complaints made by, or on behalf of the residents.

Volunteers attend a 15-hour certification class and 4 monthly in-service meetings per year. They also turn in a monthly report detailing visits to their assigned facility.
