We're
providing transportation to medical services for seniors in
need. Volunteers are greatly needed! If you can volunteer
some of your time to be a driver for this program, please
contact the STP Program Coordinator at 615/794-9055.
Background: A number of different
not-for-profit and volunteer agencies provide in-home services
to elderly Williamson County residents to assist them in remaining
independent for as long as possible. Through multi-agency
meetings it became very apparent that these same individuals
had a critical need for transportation services. These services
needed to reach across the county, be available on-call, and
provide a volunteer who would assist seniors going to and
from medical visits.
Our goal is to provide the
same kind of thoughful attention a senior would receive from
his or her own family members. A network of volunteer drivers
in different areas of the County, are coordinated by the STP
Program Coordinator. These drivers will pick up the client
from their home, drive them to their appointment, and stay
with them until they are safely back in their home.
STP is a partnership between Graceworks Ministries, Cool
Springs Christian Ministries, Living@Home of Senior Citizens
Inc., College Grove Senior Enrichment Center, The Martin Center
and United Way of Williamson County.
